Valentine’s Day looked a little different this year for many people, considering the pandemic and the record low temperatures. Let’s take a look at how Missouri Western students chose to celebrate.

Jenna Synder took the Galentine’s Day route, and celebrated her Valentine’s Day with the girls.

“I exchanged gift baskets with my best friend, watched Disney movies and made snacks,” Snyder said.

You can’t go wrong with a girls night in with movies and snacks, especially under this year’s circumstances.

Along with Jenna Synder, Harry Loomis, another Missouri Western student, also chose to stay in this year for Valentine’s Day.

“Me and Girlfriend are long distance, last year we called for 24 straight hours. This year we are going to try and call and have an all day thing. We will probably play some games and eat dinner together. We also sent gifts in the mail,” Loomis said.

Many couples this year had to get creative with limited date night options. Quality time and gifts is still a fun and personal way to celebrate Valentine’s Day, especially for a long distance relationship.

Missouri Western student Dylan Stockman went out to dinner for Valentine’s Day this year.

“I am going to spend the night with my girlfriend. We are going to go out to eat at Texas Roadhouse, then we are going to exchange Valentine’s Day gifts,” Stockman said.

A dinner date at Texas Roadhouse is another amazing way to spend Valentine’s Day.

Missouri Western student, Caitlin Dillon, also celebrated Valentine’s Day with a date night.

“My boyfriend and I hate the cold, so this whole week has been a bit like torture. We decided to Door Dash (with an extra big tip to the poor Dasher who has to brave this snow!) dinner and have a picnic movie night in my living room. No COVID, no cold!” Dillon said.

Door Dash wasn’t a bad idea this year considering the frigid temperatures, and the restaurant wait time for a Valentines Day.

Overall, students at Missouri Western made the best out of Valentine’s Day this year. Many people had to get a little more creative this year or even chose to celebrate on a smaller scale. Whether it included just staying in with friends, spending quality time with a loved one, or going out on a date, students still found a way to celebrate.
